8th International Conference on Management in Agrifood Chains and Networks
The conference was hold on MAY 28 through MAY 30, 2008. The venue was EDE, The Netherlands. The theme of the 2008 Conference is Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Chains and Networks. The Conference aims to improve the understanding of systems innovations in agrifood chains and networks, the importance of leadership and entrepreneurship in creating new agrifood value chains, and business innovation. On Friday May 30, the Conference focus shifted to "Science meets Industry", featuring discussions and presentations on agrifood industry.During the conference, a paper was presented reporting the results of the first phase of the eTrust project research activities. The title of the accepted paper, written by some members of the eTrust project Consortium, is: Why trust your new supplier? B2B trust across countries in the food sector (authors: Hofstede, G.J., Canavari, M., Fritz, M., Oosterkamp, E., van Sprundel, G.)The paper presents a tree-shaped typology of trust elements for B2B trade among European SMEs in the food sector. The typology is based on three sources: theory of national cultures, literature review about trust research in the agro food sector, and dedicated interviews of agro food buyers. The typology is generic, but with a view to adapting it to B2B e-business. It can be used as a checklist to improve suppliers-buyers relationships; it enables also a structured analysis of stronger and weaker points.
