Partner 8: University of Florida (extended consortium, FRED)
Role, contribution and qualification

The University of Florida is one of the most comprehensive universities in the United States. It is among the top three universities offering more academic programs on a single campus than any of the nation’s universities with more than 48.000 students. Its Food and Resource Economics Department supports a large, diverse, and high quality program of graduate study. Many FRE faculty have received university, regional, and national awards for teaching, research, and extension programs. FRED contributes to the project expertise in the trade streams of fresh products such as oranges and grapefruits from Florida to the EU.

Scientific personnel involved

Dr. Lisa House, Associate Professor

Dr. Lisa House is an associate professor in the FRED. Her main interests are agribusiness management, strategic management and marketing management. As investigator or coinvestigator of over $1.2 million in grant funds, Dr. House’s conducts research in the area of consumer acceptance and perceptions of food products, which she will contribute to this project. She has authored over 25 refereed journal articles and presented over 45 professional papers and symposia.

Dr. Thomas Spreen, Professor and Chair

Dr. Thomas Spreen is a professor and Chair of the FRED at the University of Florida. Dr. Spreen he has focused on a research program that examines crops important to Florida and impacted by the changing trade environment, such as citrus and sugarcane. Recognized internationally for his work on the production and marketing of citrus. The relevance of his research is also supported by the over $1.4 million in grants he has received.

  

Partner 9: University of Viçosa (extended consortium, UnVic)
Role, contribution and qualification

The University of Viçosa is Brazil’s leading institution for research in agriculture and food production and has a particular focus of extension of results to SMEs. Its Department of Rural Economics will contribute to the project expertise in food exports from Brazil to Europe and related food quality issues as well as the knowledge of Portuguese.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aziz Galvão da Silva Júnior

Aziz da Silva will lead the group at UnVic. He is associate professor in agribusiness management with particular interest in food quality management, information systems for quality management and extension of research results to SMEs in the food sector. He has received his PhD from the University of Bonn where he has developed an information system for food quality management.

  

Partner 10: Uludag University (extended consortium, UniUludag)
Role, contribution and qualification

Uludag University’s Department of Agricultural Economics has a strong record in international food marketing, food quality and the use of ICT in food chains. It contributes to the e-Trust project expertise of the food trade streams from Turkey to the EU and the knowledge of the Turkish language to perform the analyses.

Dr. Sertaç GÖNENÇ DUMAN

Sertac Gönenc Duman will lead the UniUludag group. She is researcher and lecturer in agricultural management at Department of Agricultural Economics Uludag University, Turkey. Her main interests are food quality management, food supply chain management, and international trade of Turkish food products. She was involved in international projects dealing with food quality.
